RVP+ Rail Visibility & Planning

One portal for railcar visibility, requests, and planning.

Track inbound and on-hand railcars, manage facility inventory, communicate switch instructions, review shipment information, and plan future railcar demand through a shared Wabtec RailConnect portal.

Provided at no subscription cost to approved customers of the LA&L family of railroads. Individual accounts and user permissions are required.

Shared Operational Visibility

Replace fragmented updates with one current view of the rail operation.

Rail movements involve the shipper, short line, connecting carriers, railcars, facility tracks, orders, and service instructions. RVP brings those operating details together so authorized users can find information and communicate actions through a common platform.

Standard RVP supports visibility and interaction with the serving railroad. RVP+ adds broader pipeline visibility, planning tools, dynamic arrival information, and demand forecasting for customers whose operations benefit from a forward-looking view.

RVP does not replace the customer–railroad relationship. It strengthens it by giving both teams a shared operational view and a consistent way to communicate requests.
From Visibility to Action

Know what is moving, what is on hand, and what needs attention next.

01

See the railcar pipeline

Review inbound, en route, on-hand, outbound, stored, held, or bad-ordered equipment through dashboards and searchable inventory views.

02

Communicate service needs

Select equipment and submit clear instructions for placement, release, holds, turns, weights, storage movements, and other supported railroad actions.

03

Plan ahead

Compare forecasted railcar supply with expected operational demand and identify potential shortages or surpluses before they affect production.

Inside the Portal

Explore the customer workflows available through RVP.

Select a feature to see the interface and the operating task it supports. Available fields and functions can vary by account, railroad, data source, and configuration.

Dashboard

Start with the operational picture.

Dashboard cards summarize equipment by shipment state and highlight selected inventory, dwell, tonnage, exceptions, and forecasting information.

New User Access

Three steps to set up an individual account.

Each user should have separate credentials for security, permissions, support, and auditability. Do not share usernames or passwords between employees.

Common Questions

RVP+ access and everyday use.

For account-specific questions, contact LA&L with the user’s company, facility, serving railroad, and a description of the issue.

Is RVP+ available at no cost to LA&L family customers?
Approved customers of LA&L, B&H, WNYP, and Ontario Midland can receive access without a separate customer subscription fee from LA&L. Account approval, permissions, data coverage, and feature availability still apply.
Can multiple employees use the same login?
No. Each authorized person should have an individual account. Separate credentials support security, permissions, support, and an accurate record of submitted requests.
Which railcars and railroads can I see?
Visibility depends on the user’s company, facility, serving railroad, assigned permissions, available movement data, connecting-carrier participation, and the RVP or RVP+ configuration supporting the account.
Does an RVP request guarantee same-day railroad service?
No. RVP provides a consistent way to communicate the requested action and date. Completion remains subject to operating conditions, crew and locomotive availability, track access, safety, interchange conditions, and the applicable service plan.
Who should I contact for help?
Contact LA&L for new accounts, permissions, training, facility or railroad questions, and support using the portal. Technical issues may also require coordination with Wabtec support through the sponsoring railroad.
